Dirk’s Play Time with the 4cats Motive Cushion Cat Toy – Katzenworld

I think this picture says it all, no need for me to tell you Dirk loves 4cats Premium Motif Cushion 🙂

Those of you who are familiar with the 4cats toys will have noticed the green strings on this toy and you will know that means there’s catnip inside this cushion (they are available with valerian filling too).

When it comes to playing with this cushion, Dirk loves to cuddle this cushion. It’s bigger than the 4Cats Cuddly Cushion, but that’s no problem 🙂

Let it go mom, I want it all for myself

Another favourite game is the cat version of tug of war (a game loved by many dogs too). Though in Dirk’s case I’m obviously the opponent and Dirk always wins – well, I let him win 😉

Dirk doesn’t really kick this toy a lot, perhaps just because it is slightly smaller than the 4cats Premium Rustling Cushion or their Wrestler Toy. I can imagine other cats won’t be put off by this though and will love kicking the cushion too!

Yeah!! It’s all mine now!!!

Dirk loves rolling around with his toy and sometimes even sleeps on top of it. I might be reading to much into that, but I really think he just wants to make sure I won’t “steal” his toy while he is napping.

Dirk’s version of this cushion has a bird on it, but there are others too and the toy also comes in various colours.

Zeldas little sister – Welcome Toffee! – Katzenworld

A few months ago we were searching for a sibling for Zelda.

Like a lot of other cat-parents we think that you can’t have an “only child”; especially, if the cat only lives in the flat and does not get a chance to meet other cats in the neighbourhood. Sure, there are exceptions but many cats really want a sibling.

I was the contrast of my significant other and he was SO calm during the search. I was SO excited and wanted a little sibling for Zelda ASAP. After his approval for a second cat, I began the search immediately. There were a lot of kittens I liked that he didn’t and there were many cats we both liked, but they were promised to other cat-parents.

Afterwards, it was the best thing that could happen because we were able to meet our little sweetie (Zelda’s soon to be little sister). Two days after the first contact with her original owners, I was allowed to meet her. If we had been even just a minute later someone else could have gotten her as the lady received a call while we were there asking about her. This must have been destiny! <3

The following pictures show you Zelda’s little sister on the day I met her the first time. I was instantly in love with her.

The weeks until the arrival of Zeldas little sister were SO long. I couldn’t wait for Toffee to join us. At home Zelda welcomed me at the door. There was no chance to sneak past her with her little sister! She followed me at every step and so I let her sniff and look at the transport box. But then Toffee got a little time without Zelda to explore the living room. She was not interested! Instead of this, she was sleeping in the box and purred for the first time.

A short time after the little power nap she sneaked through the room and didn’t let herself be disturbed by Zelda, crying behind the door. (But MY heart broke at every single sad meow …)

Although it is better to separate the cats at the beginning, I couldn’t stand by Zelda’s crying. After a few hours, I let her in. Zelda wanted to meet her little sister Toffee.

But at this point I want to advice against early meeting between cats, due to the fact that first meet and greets do not turn out well.

Zelda wanted to defend her territory, but there were also quiet times and Toffee needed these times to relax. At the first evening Toffee was always by her red baby towel.

It changed when Zelda often appeared next to the bed with her cute paw. Toffee decided it was time for a new sleeping place and stole Zelda’s cave.

Toffee is a cute fur ball and often wants to cuddle, if she is sleepy. <3 (Don’t look at me, I had a cold.)

For a little while they were noisy and often growled and hissed at each other, however that soon changed as they drew closer to each other.

Of course there were one or two setbacks, although a few days later it was SO quiet in our home and I thought something terrible must happened. I sneaked in the living room and saw our little princesses:

Hi everyone,

It’s me Rennie here today and I managed to get my paws on one of the 4cats premium Cat Wrestlers without interruption from my siblings. : D

Renegade: Oh my love… may I dig my teeth and claws into you?

Renegade: I just looooooooooove strings and tassles. @_@

Renegade: If I pull it hard enough… Maybe something special will happen!

Renegade: Ok these are definitely sturdy! I wasn’t able to pull the tassels off. 😮

Renegade: Round 2! Let’s see if the toy and tassels will withstand me *muahahahaha*

Renegade: *lick, chew, scratch* Gosh… the toy may actually win this fight. o.o

Renegade: *Final assault attack!*

Renegade: *huff huff* I am sooooo exhausted now but it looks like this round goes to the wrestler instead of me the Flash. 😀

A quick intro and greeting! – Katzenworld

Hello fellow cat lovers!

My name is Maria Appleby and I live in Champaign, Illinois (USA) with my husband and our cats. We have been married for 26 years, and we are both veterans. I grew up in Michigan on a small family-owned produce farm, the youngest (and only girl) of five kids.

I really find introductions difficult as I don’t have a lot to say about myself at all. I could go on forever about my husband and our cats.

Our kitties range in age from one year to 17 years old. One has a cauliflower ear. One has chronic pancreatitis. One has kidney disease. One has cancer. Several are siblings. About half of our cats came to us because their owners passed away. We have two former ferals that are now well adapted to indoor life. I have one ginger boy that’s been here over a year and a half and I still can’t pet him, but he comes out near me. Every time I get to see his fat orange stripes it just makes me smile. Some day shy kitty cat, some day, you’ll learn about ear scratches and chin rubs. I’m patient.

We are fairly experienced, but by no means experts, when it comes to cats. We have much to learn. We’ve hand-raised kittens. I’ve done “hospital care” at home (Sub-Q fluids, syringe feeding, administering meds). Nail trimming, brushing and combing. The occasional bath. Just like most of you who have and love cats, their care takes a lot of time, but it’s time we’re glad to give. We have awesome veterinarians that we’ve been with for decades. We have a great group of highly experienced friends in cat rescue too, thank goodness. More than once I have picked their brains for helpful advice and guidance.

One thing I can say, the pet community in general and the cat community in particular (online), has been wonderful. We met Marc from Katzenworld. We met many awesome rescuers. We have made many friends all across the United States, and from other parts of the world. We were supported when our cats were ill. We were comforted when we experienced loss. The benefit of having animal loving friends on social media has been profound to us. A blessing.

I would like to thank Marc for allowing me to join his community and for welcoming me with genuine kindness. I would like to thank all of you ahead of time, for your patience.

Tribute to Nakita – Katzenworld

This a story I would like to share with you about a little kitty named Nakita who stole our hearts. She was born in my bedroom closet 24 yrs ago in Arizona and was just a white ball of fur with a pink nose and pink ears. She was a sweet, loveable, smart little kitty. I raised her with my boys. She was with through surgeries I had and stayed on my bed until I was well and she would go to the boys to hug them when they cried. Nakita was a very special little kitty that I spent half my life with.

When I moved to Wisconsin from Arizona she was 17 yrs old and never had seen snow or flew on an airplane, but she was a champ with both like she had flown or seen snow all her life. I was so proud of her to be so trusting to take her across the states to a different world than the one she had known.

She loved to Sunbathe and watch out the window at any chance she got.

Nakita was with me when I became an empty nester with the boys starting their lives off to college she was there to keep me company and fill my life with laughter. I really couldn’t have done it without her.

The years went fast and soon Nakita was 21 yrs old and she got sick with kidney failure and pancreatic problems. I took her to the vet and they sent us home with pain meds and IV fluids that I had to learn to give her. It was the hardest thing I had to do. but I was willing because I just wasn’t ready to let her go. She gave me strength when I didn’t have it so it was my time to give it back to her. I nursed her for months, but she wasn’t getting better so I had to say Goodbye to my precious Nakita at age 21 1/2 yrs old. It was the hardest thing I had ever done to make that decision to say goodbye.

I was surprised by the vet calling me a week later that they have something for me and it was her paw print. I couldn’t believe it. I was speechless and just cried. It was the best gift I could of ever gotten at that time. I was lost without her our house had changed it was quiet and sad just Nakita’s old toys there to see and we had to relocate to another city and I was a mess not wanting to leave the house with Nakita’s memories there, but we had to go. Three month went by and we moved and our new house was great but it wasn’t a home yet. We were still sad from loosing Nakita.

I was looking through the internet and there were some kittens in Chicago and Wayne suggest we go take a day trip to go see these kittens but not to get one. As we pull up to this home with snow everywhere on the ground a butterfly flew by us in the dead of winter and I thought that was very strange to see a butterfly in the winter and then we see a rainbow behind the house. I started to tear up because it was a sign that we were supposed to be here at this moment. We went in to the house and there was this 1lb little black kitty and she just looked at us and started purring. She kept her eyes on us, but not scared at all. We looked at each other and said at the same time we want to take her home. On our drive home Wayne said, what are you going to name her? I said, Angel with no hesitation. Wayne said Why Angel? I said Nakita is our Angel guiding us now and it’s fitting for her name to be Angel.

This little girl Angel has changed our lives with full of laughter and our house is finally a home. That’s why we share her with you to pay it foreword to give you laughter, love and a smile daily what she does for us.
